Fitting a Brace Bar Kit to the 1991 Honda CRX.
These braces were bought on eBay and manufactured by a US company by the name of "Bomz Racing". I wanted a complete set of braces that were matching, conservative in design and a sensible price.
This complete set cost a paltry $40, plus $80 for express (7-10 day) postage to the UK by air with FedEx. While the postage wasn't cheap (could have been shipped by land a lot cheaper) this still only totalled $120 although attracted £14 worth of import duty. All-in the total price at the time was £80. Befitting the price tag they are fairly cheaply made but more than up to the job for a street car. The cost of this entire set of braces is still less than the price of one big brand front brace, although admittedly would be better quality than these ones.
FSB-HC9200 - Front Brace
RSB-HC8800 - Rear Brace
Although I am dealing with a 1991 CRX SiR here, installation for these is virtually identical on each model they fit.
After fitting the front brace alone, the transformation was very noticeable - the turn-in was many times sharper and it's like driving a new car! Even at normal driving speeds you can feel the difference. Just goes to show that even a cheap set of braces like these will make a difference!
