O2 Sensor Wiring

These tables can be useful when connecting aftermarket replacement sensors to existing wiring or testing purposes.

Early Honda vehicles before 1990 use single wire oxygen sensors, 1992-1995 are generally OBD-1 and 1995-onwards use the OBD-2 colours.

If your sensor has more than four wires it is probably a wideband type and should only be replaced with a direct replacement.

You should be especially careful when replacing the dual single-wire sensors on early VTEC engines. Each sensor must be wired to the appropriate connector and in its associated boss on the manifold, failure to do this will cause major issues with the part-throttle operation of the engine and does not always show with an ECU fault light.
