Throttle Linkage

Fabricating the throttle linkage.

Although I originally intended to use the standard Toyota throttle assembly it transpires that it is not compatible with the pedal arrangement on the CRX. As standard I require 35mm of cable travel from closed to open throttle, and the stock AE101 setup gave 55mm. The result of this is that full throttle on the pedal would only give just over half throttle at the plates - clearly a problem!

The simplest solution in theory was to fit an original Honda B16A1 1:1 ratio cable pulley (note that the B16A2 pulley has a variable ratio) to the linkage on the bodies, as this would give the perfect ratio for the pedal setup. This initially looked a bit tricky but with some careful milling there is just enough room to get the pulley on the throttle shaft, and not affect the balance & end stop adjusters.

When finally positioned the linkage will be TIG welded together.

The throttle bracket has now been made, this was folded up from some sheet and TIG welded together both on top and underside. It was designed to allow use of the stock Honda throttle cable and allows for the cable to neatly sweep away and follow the original route round the engine.
